साधा भूतकाळ Simple Past Tense.

This one is little tricky, it changes a lot, still I'll try to generalise variations to the verb. So far we saw only cases where the gender of a verb depends on the subject. Now in certain cases it will depend on the object.

1. Verb tells about action performed on a object, but object is not mentioned.

to see बघणे\

I \ He \ She \ They \ You saw मी \ त्याने \ तिने \ त्यांनी \ तु(तुम्ही) बघितलं.

to wear घालणे

I \ He \ She \ They \ You wore मी \ त्याने \ तिने \ त्यांनी \ तु(तुम्ही) घालल घातलं.

hit मारलं

read वाचलं

wrote लिहिलं

stole चोरलं

wiped पुसलं

2. Verb tells about the action performed on the object.

In this case the verb follows the gender of the object. Verb endings are as follows.....

Singular (एकवचनी) N. Neutral (लं) F. Feminine (ली) M. Masculine (ला)

plural (अनेकवचनी) N. (ली) F. (ल्या) M. (ले)

(N) I wrote a letter मी पत्र लिहिलं. I wrote letters मी पत्र लिहिली.

(F) I wrote a poem मी कविता लिहिली. I wrote poems मी कविता लिहिल्या.

(M) I wrote a paragraph मी परीच्छेद लिहिला. I wrote paragraphs. मी परीच्छेद लिहिले.

(N) He read a book. त्याने पुस्तक वाचलं.

(M) She saw a movie. तिने सिनेमा बघितला.

(F) He saw a mistake in the letter. त्याने पत्रामध्ये चूक बघितली.

(N) He saw airplanes. त्याने विमानं बघितली.

3. Verb tells action performed by the subject on himself. So, subject is the object. Verb endings are same as above, it follows the gender of a subject.

He danced. तो नाचला.

She danced. ती नाचली.

They danced. ते नाचले(N & M). त्या नाचल्या(F)

I was there. मी तिकडे होतो / होते. I wasn't there. मी तिकडे नव्हतो/ नव्हते.
He was there. तो तिकडे होता. He wasn't there. तो तिकडे नव्हता.
She was there. ती तिकडे होती. She wasn't there. ती तिकडे नव्हती.
They were there. ते तिकडे होते. They weren't there. ते तिकडे नव्हते.
You were there. तु तिकडे होतास/ होतीस. You weren't there. तु तिकडे नव्हतास / नव्हतीस.
We were there. आम्ही तिकडे होतो. We weren't there. आम्ही तिकडे नव्हतो.
It was there. ते तिकडे होतं. It wasn't there. ते तिकडे नव्हतं.
Paragraph.

Yesterday was Sunday. It was a good day. Matthew, Trisha & I went to the river. We ate icecreame. Icecreame was very cold. Then we watched superball. Giants won. Patriots lost. I liked Patriots. They were good. I don't watch football much. I like soccer more. Today is Monday. Its not very cold today. I threw my mattress. Nowdays I sleep in sleeping bag. I am washing my clothes for tomorrow. Today I didn't drink enough water. I drank grape juice. It was sweet. I ate lemon rice.

काल रविवार होता. तो चांगला दिवस होता. मॅथ्यू, त्रिशा आणि मी नदीकडे गेलो. आम्ही आइस्क्रीम खाल्लं. आइसक्रीम खूप थंड होतं. मग आम्ही सुपरबॉल बघितलं. जायंट्स जिंकले. पेट्रिअट्स हरले. मला पेट्रिअट्स आवडले. ते चांगले होते. मी फुट्बॉल जास्त बघत नाही. मला सॉकर जास्त आवडतं. आज सोमवार आहे. आज खूप थंड नाहीये. मी माझी गादी फेकली. हल्ली मी स्लीपंग बॅग मध्ये झोपतो. मी उद्यासठी माझे कपडे धुतोय. आज मी पुरेस पाणि प्यालो नाही. मी द्राक्ष्याचे सरबत प्यालो. ते गोड होते. मी लिंबु भात खाल्ला.
